I remember too well when we moved house it was stressful and a very busy time. When you’re trying to pack up your entire life and then move it to someplace new, you may find that it feels impossible. There’s no surprise that this is supposed to be one of the most stressful things that anybody can experience in life. So this is why we all try to make it as seamless as possible. However, sometimes, you won’t always want to hire a full-service moving company to help you. So what are your alternate options? I have experienced them all in the three different times we have moved, one of them being to Barcelona and that was an experience in its self and could have been better planned.
Hire A Van
First of all, you could rent a van. There are lots of rental places around these days, and most of them supply large vans that could allow you to transport all of your things in just a few journeys. This can be a great option if you want to be able to move on your own terms and work on the process with your family and friends.
The next thing you could look to do is have a really big clear out. If you know that you want to get rid of a lot of things before you move, then decluttering could save you from taking things you don’t need to the new place. This could mean that you can even take most of the things yourself, and you may only need help with any bulky items you have.
I could have really have used this option of shipping when we moved to Barcelona many years ago. We really did do it a roundabout way, only sending a small amount over and when we came home to visit we would take a suitcase back full of stuff. What happened when we came back was stressful and we ended up leaving a lot of things behind. If we’re ever to move aboard again I would defiantly look to ship my items safety using pallets.
