I don’t know about you, but sometimes I feel like my phone is constantly stuck in my hand. Something I would really like to change, focusing on being present, in that moment. When I travel I want to see the sites, eat good food and take in the culture, not homed in on my phone, worried that I have missed something in the social world. When I’m with my family I don’t want my kids to think it is normal for me to be stuck staring at my screen every day. I need to teach them that it’s okay to enjoy simple tasks that don’t involve constantly checking your phone. It’s the modern way of living, I know! It’s how I make my living my phone is important to me, but it’s nice to put it away knowing I will not miss anything when I’m wearing the SKAGEN smartwatch.
Lately, I have been testing out the new Falster smartwatch and I’ve really enjoyed how it functions as a watch, as well as looking the part. I chose the Falster steel mesh watch – a smartwatch with an interactive touchscreen that can help with activity tracking which is perfect for keeping track of those steps, weather, smartphone notifications and much more. I’ll be sharing which functions I thought were great and really helped me get through my day.
When I first received the smartwatch I would have to be truthful and say that I would often forget to charge the watch and would be annoyed at myself for having something on my wrist that wasn’t even switched on. I got better and got into a routine of making sure that it was charged fully at night ready for the next day.
First impressions were that the design looked good, it was sleek and minimal, everything that I look for in my accessories. I like the mesh strap which can be changeable however a concern was that it was going to be heavy on my wrist as it’s a lot of watch, but surprisingly it is lightweight and you don’t know you have it on. There are nice features inside that you can change for your own preference, like changing the colour of the front screen and font colours. You can change the style of the watch clock and add many different faces as well as adding apps.
Some of the features that I enjoyed when wearing the watch was the google maps. A recent trip to London I found this an excellent feature to have on your watch. It meant I didn’t need to constantly pull out my phone finding my way around the busy streets. I put in my destination and I arrived on time. When I use maps on my phone I find it uses a lot of my battery and I end up in a panic finding a place to charge up my phone.
Updates on the weather… I do like to regularly check the weather throughout the day and this was a perfect tool to have. You can awake in the morning knowing what the weather is going to be like for that day and dress appropriately. Make plans depending on the weather changing to whatever city or country you are visiting.
Fitness/health app… Since going freelance I have found it hard to keep up with my goal steps, sometimes I only get out to pick the kids up from school. I used to walk so much going back and forth from work but I have set a goal on my watch and it’s helping me realise I need to step away and go for a walk. I am hoping by getting our dog in the summer will really up my steps and give me that much-needed excuse to put things down and enjoy some fresh air.
Lastly, I simply enjoyed getting notifications from my watch through my phone, I felt updated without having the need to check especially during busy times of the day. I knew when people were trying to get in contact with me, either through a phone call or a text message. A real modern way to connect.
A joy to wear! Not only does it look good it also functions well with a matter of touching the small screen. I get a handful of compliments daily from wearing and I’ve learned always to have it on charge at night to get full use the next day.
